I try to install xp on my Vista machine and when it says press enter to continue set up. I get brought to a screen that says that the computer cannot detect any hard discs. Whats that even mean. If it cant detect any hard discs what the hell does it think vista is running off of? Any way of getting around this cause I cant stand having vista on this pc.

Tough call here. You might look into a BIOS update for your computer or you may need to load the drivers for your controller.

Agreed: AFAIK, XP does not carry native support for SATA.
