I have become infected with Int Sec 2010 malware and find that after running Zone Alarm full suite and re-booting cannot go past Win Xp password entry when it logs me off again even when attempting to start in safe mode..!

    Any suggestions..??

    Many thanks.:confused

Have moved your thread to software because until you are able to boot up successfully and log in to run scans for malware removal, I cannot provide you with a fix. Best of luck resolving your problems and pop back into malware removal when everything is up and running again. :)

I just did battle with that nasty but I was able to boot into safe mode. Can you maybe boot into safe mode with command prompt, (probably not but worth a shot). Try the other options you get also when you press the F8 button on boot.
If no luck you will need either an install disk to boot from, preferable, or your recovery disk. You should have posted your computer type and I'll assume with the XP you have SP3.
Upon booting with most machines, pressing F2 will get you into bios mode where you will find an option to first boot from CD/DVD. If not already selected, you'll need to do that. Then boot with the disc in and try a repair. That might allow you to boot and then you can go back to malware removal after doing as much of the R&R as possible.
Hope you got your data backed up!
In my case, the person had minimal data that I put on a flash drive and then reformatted the bugger. That or go through the malware removal process, which can be quite laborious, but worth it if necessary.
    Good luck!

Many thanks for suggestions, I have backed up all my data so ok in that respect! I will try as suggested in last post, but get the impression that a format and re-install of everything might be best option as pc is 6-7 years old and prob lots of crap on the hard drive anyway!! Are there any idiots guides on best way to do this, I have all original XP and Office discs?

    Many thanks.

Ps still less than impressed about getting infected in first place, as had ZA full suite as was updated every day, seems even taking every precaution is still not enough...!

Simple, set your bios to boot from CD/DVD, as I described in my first post. Boot and when given selection, choose full or complete format, not quick.
    Then just follow the instructions.
After formatting and reinstalling, you may need to get some more drivers. Check in you device manager in properties of My Computer.

Ok i'll prob go down that road, presume the original XP disc contains the full XP operating system.

    Many thanks.
