intake fan?

how necessary really is an intake fan if the whole front of my case is perforated? wouldn't it be more logical to have just a powerful exhaust fan for the noise/temp ratio? btw my intake fan option is one 80mm and my exhaust fan option is 120mm (so a more powerful exhaust fan would make less noise than a more powerful 80mm intake fan)

 

120mm fans are always, in my opinion better. And as to what you need, that is a bit hard to answer. How are your temps? Are they better with an intake fan? I use an intake fan on all my computers. Helps keep the hard drive(s) cool. Think about how the airflow works in your case. Just an exhaust fan willl suck x amount of air out. Air is a bit like water, it takes the easy path. Is all the air comming from the front of the case? Could it be entering from other places?

By using intake and exhaust fans, you can better controll the amount and path of the nice cool air. :cool

 

yeah what ill just do is measure the temp with the fan and without the fan and see if the noise difference justifies the temp difference

And with a Dremmel tool, you can make a 120mm fit in an 80mm hole sometimes.:-D

 

i don't have a dremel...once i get around to it, i might buy one and a 80mm and 120mm drill attachments for my drill so i can mod the crap out of my case :-D
