Intalling a CD burner

    I'm trying to install a HP CD burner into a compaq and i have the (CD-Writer Plus) CD. I put the burner in and the cd into it and it says "No Device Detected." HELP PLEASE

    What Operating System do you have ? Have you tried a different burning program? Does it work if you put a cd (not blank) into it?

    My Operating system is "Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)"

    Do a google for freeware burning download.

    Grab one of those. Just make sure it runs in XP. Load it up & try that program to see if it sees the blank cd.

    Never used the HP Burning program.
