With the release of the 1155 format, the 1156 seems to have vanished. The question is this: does the 1155 socket have the same spacing as 1156 between posts for the CPU cooler? I have a CPU cooler that supports 1156 (it was purchased 9-12 mon before the advent of 1155) and a friend recently built an 1155 system but does not want to use the stock cooler, and I figured I'd give him my old cooler if it will fit securely and correctly (no jerry-rigging allowed! LOL). So: will a cooler that's compatible with the 1156 socket mount correctly on an 1155 socket?

(the cooler in question is my old CoolerMaster Hyper212+ - I upgraded to a Spire Thermax II Eclipse about 4-6 months ago)

Yes, I also, had to do the same research. My corsair H50 will also work with my new build.

Pin Array may change but PCB form factor is another factor, Intel can do what they like but changing the PCB mounting will seriously detract from the sales potential of to many producers and is not "essential". If and when the PCB mounting changes significant questions of "greed" and legacy dependences should be raised.

    Legacy dependence= Apple.........that is their desire......iPads.....iPhones........spied upon 24/7

Only n00bs use Apple hardware......and have their lives monitored.
