Intel PRO/100 M & Windows Vista Beta 2

Hey all, need some help if at all possible. I have an Intel PRO/100 M Desktop Adapter running on my computer that I have Vista Beta 2 (build 5284.4) installed on, and no matter what I've tried I can't get it to work. It shows up in the device manager with the yellow exclamation mark, and I do all the required steps to install the driver, which gives me the list of compatible hardware with the driver I'm installing. I click the correct desktop adapter on the list, and it gives the warning of how it's not recommended to install the driver as it could be incompatible with that hardware. I tell it to install anyway, then after a little bit it comes up saying that the device couldn't install properly, with the error of "Device cannot start (Code 10)." The really obnoxious part about this is that the NIC worked completely fine with Vista build 5270, and after that it just stopped working. I have an Intel PRO/100 S Desktop Adapter on a computer back home (300 miles from where I am right now) that works fine with Vista. ANY ideas on how to maybe trick Vista into working with my NIC? It'd be really helpful. Thanks!

 

Well, since apparently there's no edit button, I figured I'll just reply. I figured out my problem, and got the NIC to start working again. If possible, you can delete this thread

 

How did you get it going? Just for the next person who passes by.

 

I decided that something was wrong, because the Intel card I mentioned should work perfectly with no problems. I opened up my PC, cleaned it out (was caked with dust lol), and removed the NIC to look at it. It wasn't an Intel card . Lesson learned? When all else fails, make sure you know what damn hardware you have.
