Hi..I'm a newbie and having a serious problem with an Intel 845G video card (I know, piece of crap!) My system is a Gateway 310s Thrasher...I installed all updates and now my fps rate sux in CoH..I've did the scans for virus and spyware, and ran a hijack this file...Nothing out of the ordinary there. Wondering if I have the wrong video card driver..I'm using the 6.14.10.4020 driver..Any suggestions short of trashing card and starting over would be nice..TY

Version 14.10 drivers are the latest, according to the Intel website.

    Are you using Windows XP?

if so you can rvert to the old drivers.

in device manager, right click the card and choose properties. on the 'drivers' tab choose to roll back the driver.

let us know how you get on.

just to clarify, you dont have a video card, but an on-board graphics chipset that shares your system RAM. not buit for games, but you know that.

as Feriol was suggesting, you could try to roll back your graphics drivers--perhaps the older ones were more optimised for CoH.

but before you do that, is CoH all up to date and patched? also, have you tried fooling with the graphics settings both in the game and out of the game in the driver preferences? maybe the new drivers default to higher quality graphics, ruining your FPS.

    Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to help me. Yes, I know Intel is integrated into the motherboard (sux), and I do plan on getting a PCI vid card first chance I get. Rolled back the driver and am getting better performance from CoH now. Plan on getting a gaming puter in a few months..Thanks for the suggestion. :D

glad we could help. If you're planning on getting a gaming computer soon, domt bother with a PCI-vid card now :p save up for the new comp.

as always, feel free to post in the hardware section when you're getting ready to buy/build the new system so we can help you get the best performance for your budget

    Re: Intel 845G Bye Bye

What is the easiest way to kill this onboard piece of junk. I finally decided to update my graphics card, but having some problems disabling this INTEL 845G.

    Re: Intel 845G Bye Bye

first, go to Add/Remove programs, and see if there is anything related to 'intel display' or Graphics. if there is, uninstall it.

if there isn't, go to device manager, and uninstall the display adapter.

shut down your computer. and put the new card in (be sure to plug the monitor into the new card)

turn it back on and enter the BIOS. there should be an option that says 'Primary Display Adapter' or something of the sort, and the option should be set to 'On Board' by default. You will want to change thit to 'PCI' so it uses the PCI card.
