    Intell D865GBF MB
    intell P4 3.2 cpu
    wd 160
ati 9000 all in wonder pro

When I run some different things this alarm(from intell) but it won't show me any details. I have MBM5 on my pc and when intell goes off MBM5 reads 46c. I have all kinds of fans on here. If I run a DVD record pro. it heats up to around 54+c. My concern is that the intell alarm is going off. sometimes when running just general things. Any ideas, any one else run warm . MBM5 is reading 52c now. What is a safe temp. I've been told not to go past 55c?.Thanks Chuck

have you put the h/s & fan on correctly and most of all did you remove the plastic under the heatsink before putting it on the CPU?

Did your cooler have paste on it?

Did you connect the fan to the correct place on the motherboard?

    -: what kcl says :-

CPU's heat up -very- fast, it might heat up to an 'alarmic zone' in just a sec, then the P4 automatically slows down in speed to prevent it from melting then goes down quickly again. That could be one reason why you can't see the temp raise higher than 54c even though it might do so.

Check the heatsink so it's firmly seated, and above all - in level with the cpu! Some ppl tend to put them on the wrong way around - causing it to not have a 100% contact with the cpu.

If everything's fine I'd invest in a better cooler to be honest. 54c is still pretty high, though not extreme. But the cooler the better so I'd still think about it.

It could still be just a very low set alarm, maybe you can raise the limit a few degrees? Your cpu won't be damaged but try to keep under 60c for best results.

    How many fans are installed?
    Are they running?
    Can you hear them?
Can you feel hot air being expelled from the PC case?

You can buy a plug in card with fans attached, that justs plugs into a vacant slot on your PC. We installed one in a PC that was in a very hot and dusty Warehouse environment. It worked. Bazza
