Interactive sites not interacting

I em encountering problems with interactive sites not interacting, such as Google maps, PCH games and sweepstakes, weather maps, etc., while others are still interactive
PCH (Publisher's Clearing House) said I needed to clear my cookies, my browser history, etc.as they did some changes for their sites.
I don't know a Lorna Doon from a choclate chip when it comes to cookies. So my question is are all of these non-interacting interactive sites all affected by the same thing?
I have made no changes in my computer system. All I have done recently is run Avast and delete some trojans that were found.

Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?
What Browser/s and version are you using?

As you mention trojans then its very possible that Avast has not removed all the infection, these days most AVs don't, the malware is so sophisticated that you need some other tools and at times some manual intervention from some malware experts.

But to start with lets say that Avast has removed all the malware, the main thing left is as the likes of the interactive sites use the likes of Adobe Flash and Sun Java to give you these rich interactions is that one or more are corrupt so lets fully uninstall thm and reinstall as per below

I would even though you have latest version installed do a bit of a clean install of the Flash plugin and download the cleaner tool from Adobe HERE and run.

Do same for Java Runtime and run this tool called JavaRA to remove old Java versions.

Then run CCleaner and its Cleaner and Registry tool (run the registry one until nothing shows for removal, do save the registry when it prompts you) then double check in

If 64bit Windows
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed and delete Macromed folder

If 32bit Windows
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed and again delete the folder

if 64bit, then check both areas, just in case.

Then download and install latest Adobe version HERE (do on the Majorgeeks download page click the Firefox, Safari and Opera users need this version link and install) also update Shockwave HERE

and Java HERE

Then reboot and try again, if thats not fixed it then I would continue with the below as written
