interesting ram problem

hi all, i have an asrock 775vm800 motherboard with 512 ddr400 (1 stick) memory in, i have everest installed and went to check my memory to install more.
the problem is everest says i have infineon Memory 512M DDR 400 PC3200 (aed660ud00-500c88x) at 200mhz, i googled the part number and got Aeneon Memory 512M DDR 400 PC3200 at 400mhz,
when i checked my bios it says 512 166mhz ddr333,
hope someone has any ideas

infineon makes the chips on the RAM, so Everest is reporting what kind of chips you have. Aeneon is a company that makes RAM sticks, and the ones you have are using Infineon chips. (there are only a number of chip makers, and all the RAM companies use their chips... ex, Infineon and Samsung are the most common RAM chip makers.)

It appears your RAM is running a 166mhz front side bus (which becomes 333 after it is multiplied) which equates the RAM to pc2700 (DDR333).

What you are reading in Everest is the rated speed of the RAM, PC3200 (DDR400). that would be a 200mhz fsb in the BIOS. You can adjust the RAM speed in the BIOS to 200mhz FSB safely.

how do i change the the speed, i went to the bios again and changed from auto to manual but could not change the speed,
i have a 3.2 celeron processor

 

from the 775vm800 manual screenshot below, you can see the DRAM frequency. you want it set to 200mhz (DDR400).
