I've been having some issues with online console gaming, and putting my PS3 into a DMZ only seemed to help some issues so I'm attempting to go ahead and open the necessary ports to see if that frees up the rest of my issues. The problem is that I must recognize my Source and Destination as either LAN or WAN, and I'm not sure what to list it as. I have assumed that my PS3 is the Source, so I may be right when I list it as WAN, but what is the destination (router)? Please help!

    Quoted from WIKI answers :

A LAN (local area network) is a group of computers and network devices connected together, usually within the same building
A WAN (wide area network), is not restricted to a geographical location, although it might be confined within the bounds of a state or country. A WAN connects several LANs, and may be limited to an enterprise (a corporation or an organization) or accessible to the public. The technology is high speed and relatively expensive. The Internet is an example of a worldwide public WAN.

Lastly, the protocols are different between a LAN and WAN. A LAN uses transmissions to other devices within the same network segment, whereas a WAN uses point to point transmissions between nodes of the WAN which may be separated by hundreds or thousands of miles.

Hope this helps any ! :)
