    Hi,
Perhaps I had better explain title.
When I am surfing some sites, for some unexplained reason I get a loud "crashing" sund over the speakers, and the screen reverts back to AOL home screen. This occurs randomly, the most recent being on MajorGeeks lounge, thread is "Free Giftfrom Newegg". The fault was also
occurring in Ebay, but has not done so for a week.
I have , over the last week, run Adware(daily), Spybot, Trend House Call. Taucan, and AVG6 is scheduled to run every evening. All with negative results. I have also cleaned and defragmented all drives with System Mechanic.
    Specs are:-

I have tried on various occasions to reinstall Q327979, but without success.
This machine is networked with another at my home, but fault occurs even when network is not opened. A check on the other machine does not show any faults.

If an answer is viable, please remeber I am an ancient old codger, so please laymans language!
    Thanks in advance,
    Harry.

AOL and all those FNJs have finally broken your PC Harry!:D

j/k agreed with AbbySue, sounds like you caught some kind of hijacker, your HJT log should expose the bugger.

I like the crashing sound tho, nice touch :p

Definitely fix those 1st 2 lines that robo listed, Harry. Then reboot and delete the C:\WINDOWS\l5tk23.dll file. That might take care of the problem right there. If it doesn't we can look at the AOL stuff. I agree - nice clean log.

    Robo,
Thanks for quick answer, but as I said I don`t really now how to handle Highjack this. Would it be catastrophic to delete all those you mentioned, bearing in mind I have no real sensitive material,or anything that I`m really bothered about?

    Alan,
Done as you suggested, rebooted, couldn`t find l5tk23.dll, but that was listed on the ones Robo suggested.
    Unfortunately still same problem
Perhaps a further clue, the fault is now occurring when I open Aol, and also when I open this site, but I just wait and then I can proceed here.

(trying to describe faults it is difficult to be precise.)

    Harry.

    Robo
I am using AOL9 ( Beta) we dont have full AOL9 in uk yet.
Cleaned out cookies and temp internet files - -- no change
Turned off AOL pop-up controls - - --- no change
Turned off system mechanic popup controls - - - - BINGO , no noise and page opens correctly!!!!

Many thanks to you and Alan, for getting rid of a somewhat strange fault , as it seems to be inspired by a device which is purported to help!

BTW it was a wav file

    Happy Harry!
