Intermittent Network Issue

I have a home network with an Office PC, Home Theater PC, Laptop (wireless), PS3, and an XBOX 360 all networked via a D-Link Router. From time to time I have the little tooltip popup on the task bar telling me that I have disconnected a network cable. This happens on all wired devices (not the laptop that I can recall). I suspect it is a problem with my router.

Could this be related to router setup or is it preparing to fail on me?? Should I just replace the router or could this be my ISP? Any ideas??

 

Check the simple stuff first. Sometimes cables are crimped poorly, tho thats unlikely as this just started but worth checking. If the clip is broken on the cable that can cause issues as well. Try replacing cables before replacing the more expensive router.

 

Good point. Since they all seem to drop out, I'll replace the CAT5e between my cable modem and the router and see if that helps.

 

OK. It just happened to me again. I logged onto my router and examined the log file. This is what it displayed:

It looks to me like it is just randomly rebooting.
