I am visiting my sister and thought of helping her with her laptop, as it was very slow, redirecting pages, etc, etc. (She has very limited knowledge of Word and basic internet skills)

I do not have all the specs, but it is a Fujitsu Lifebook AH531; Dual Core i3 2310M - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - 4 GB RAM - 500 GB HDD.
I used quite a few tools (MBAM; a quick antivirus scan; CCleaner; Duplicate Finder Pro; IOBit Uninstaller(which showed 2 viruses) and for the first time tools from tweaking.com ( I think I got the name from your list of tools or from Hiren.

At some time the system rebooted and could not boot. It gave an error message relating to the BSD.

The next time it did not boot and the built-in screen stayed black.

I followed numerous options, connecting an external Samsung screen with a VGA cable to see if I get an image on the external screen. No luck.
Another option was taking the battery out, giving power, etc, etc. Restarting on various settings.

The bottom line: The laptop does not boot, even with UBCD 511; although I could not reset the booting options and no screen lights up.

Any help or should I take it in to a repair shop?

If nothing happens when you press the power button, then something has died. Unfortunately it happened when you where trying to help. I suggest you take it to Incredible Connection after phoning. They use to do a free PC check. Matrix Warehouse Computers is also an option - their parts' prices are lower.

Hi my friend :wave maybe your hdd is dead , you have to remove your sister's hdd to connect to your pc , checking if your hdd is alright or not , at the bottom of the laptop there is a sticker with the model of your laptop , inform about it :cool

Here are some excellent advice; thanks for it all.
Unfortunately, after the first answer, I took it to the guy who normally looks after my computer (or fortunately) who said "many a good deed is punished".
I am still waiting what his findings are.
There are very good answers, I want to thank you all. I will store it in my own "archives"
