My WinXP machine is connected to the internet via wireless connection. I have a linux machine in the same room and would like to share that connection. I have Connected the two machines with a cross over cable, enabled internet connection sharing in XP, and set the gateway in linux to be the IP of the ethernet adapter. Any ideas on what I may be missing here? I am still unable to access the internet on the linux machine.

    Thanks!

Do you have Samba enabled to share files between the machines?

Do you have a firewall in Linux enabled?

My sil uses Synergy between Win2000 and Kubuntu.

No I don't have samba enabled to share files. I was just looking to get the internet access on linux. As it turned out I was inadvertantly typing192.168.2.1 rather than 192.168.0.1 for the gateway.
