Internet cable connection problem

I am having problem with my connection using a erthernet cable on my laptop.

Wi-fi works on my laptop & the cable from my modem work when linked to my PC, but not to my Laptop?

Did you disable the wireless adapter before connecting the ethernet cable?

 

Yes I did.

I have re-install the driver & been getting the problem ever since.

 

Could you give me the details of the modem/router that you're trying to connect to and the Windows version and Service Pack level of the laptop please (laptop make/model may be useful too)?

My Network adapter driver is Marvel Yukon 88E8042-PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller

As I said before I can access the internet on my WI-fi & also from my PC by using the same cable.

 

Ok but what is the modem/router that you hook them up to?
