My daughter's computer is beyond all hope. It is infected with numerous virus, scumware etc. I am going to format the hard drive and reinstall the OS, WinXP Home. My question:

Is there a way to reconfigure her computer so that when she brings it back to college she can just plug the internet line and be up and running again.? Her internet is provided through the college.

    Thanks for all your help

It depends on the school. some don't require anything special software wise, some do, whats the college she goes too.

    Qoute from their site
"It is required that all computers connected to the network:

    1. use a currently licensed anti-virus program that has auto updating and is up to date with the latest virus definations. The College provides, free of charge, to all students eTrust antivirus software from Computer Associates.

    2. maintain current Windows/OS patches "

So as long as you make sure that before she goes back everything is patched you should be fine. But if you wanna contact them helpdesk@sage.edu is the address to ask questions.
