My daughter's computer is so full of malware that it won't function. I've run adaware & spybot search & destroy; every time there are more bugs found. (CWShredder didn't find any problems, though.) Cent-alt-delete shows a couple of odd programs such as ctxlps or other random letters. I've been trying to delete suspicious programs & folders through the add/remove tool & also manually. There is a program file on her computer with random letters, but I can't remove it; it also says the system is using it.

Now here's the big problem: We can no longer access the internet. I don't know if it's part of the malware takeover or if I deleted something vital.

No matter what URL we type in, we get "cannot find server."

Because of this, I can't download hijackthis or regsupreme or anything else. I tried downloading onto floppy disk on my own computer, but her computer won't respond to the floppies. On hijack this, I get a message that her computer can't read the format. On RegSupreme, the message says it can't download it because of security settings on the computer. I don't know what these messages mean.

If someone can help me at least get back on the internet, that would be great!

It is rather difficult to help you if you cannot get anything on to the PC. Also you did not even provide an OS? Can you burn files onto a CD elsewhere and then copy them to the infected PC to install and run?

You need to extract HJT from the ZIP file. You probably have nothing that can open ZIP files on the PC. Extract the hijackthis.exe from the ZIP file before copying to the infected PC. Then try again.

RegSupreme is not going to be of any help. It is a registry editor not a true spyware locator or removal tool. While it could be used to edit registry locations, you first have to identify which ones may be problems. Doing that manually would take forever.

If you cannot get a HJT log, provide a running process list using Task Manager.
