Internet connection bottlenecking?

Recently my 10meg cable connection is crapping out on me. For instance, when I attempt to download a file, or view a video on youtube, it loads 1/3 of it and then stops, or slows down to ridiculous speeds. I tried to run the speakeasy speed test and it's showing near 128kb for the download speed...not sure if it's a malware problem or an isp issue, but I figured I'd check here and see if I could pick up any advice. I'm running windows XP professional sp2. This problem is very annoying as I can't download any pc cleaning software. Not to mention when I try to update avg or adaware it never finishes. :cry

HI

1. Need to call and chat to your ISP to rule out any issues with your cable connection.

1a. Reset Router.

2. Have you scanned for malware? if not then best option is to follow our Guide here and then start a NEW thread in the malware forum here if any malware is picked up.

If your finding it hard to download some applications, if you dont have another PC, see if a friend will help you download them, to install.

The problem fixed itself. My isp was apparently experiencing problems. Thanks for your consideration either way.
