I have a 4 year old Dell desktop and we have Charter internet service. Running off the desktop is a wireless router, it’s a NetGear RangeMax which is 3 years old. There are 1-3 laptops using the wireless connection at any one time. Occasionally the connection crashes and Charter told me to re-set by: unplugging the power supply to the modem, waiting 10 seconds, unplugging the power supply form the router, reconnecting the modem, waiting for it to re-boot, and re-connecting the router. This is always is a successful solution. However, as of late, the connection is crashing more frequently, probably 3-4 times per day. Called Charter and they said our their connection was fine but it was most likely an “old router”. Their suggestion was to replace the router. Does this make sense? If not, what are other potential causes? Thanks, RB
