    Hello,

About 2 weeks ago, I was browsing the internet looking for answers to question I had. I clicked a website and the second the page opened up a little screen popped up and it something along the lines of "Your Computer is now being attacked by Trojans" or something like that, then it said "Proceed/Cancel". I exited the screen and then all of a sudden a screen similar to what appears when you open the Start window on your computer, and then Click Computer. It showed the hard drives and it showed something downloading into or out of each drive in red. I assumed it was attacking my computer and I quickly turned it off. After letting my computer sit for about 10 minutes, I turned the computer back on. Everything seemed fine and nothing wasn't working. However, the next day my internet in residence stopped working. It said I was connected and at times it said I had limited local connection. I first thought it was just the residence connection, however when I tried to connect to wireless on my campus, the same thing happened. Now I just want to know what the issue is with my computer. It won't let me connect to the internet within residence, while being connected to the ethernet/cable jack, and it won't let me connect to wireless anywhere.

    Hopefully you can help, thanks!

The popup screen you described is a typical bait screen, designed to make you think your computer is being attacked to try and force you to download an antivirus package or possibly malware. Ignore these screens, just use the X in the top right corner of the outermost window to close them and carry on as normal.

As for the internet dropping out, can you test it using a wired connection?

This sounds like some kind of hosts/DNS hijacker infection :(

Read & run me first, follow those instructions exactly, noting any error messages carefully.

If, after going through the full cleanup process there you still have problems, create a new post in that section of the forum and attach the logs that were created during the cleanup.

    Good luck :)
