Internet connection lost

I´ve got a slight problem not major but is abit annoying. I got a Internet Adsl connection, sometimes I can be logged on the whole day and night without any problem, and the sometimes I can be logged on for an hour and the connection is lost abt 5 or 6 times. Try and reconnect and I get and error code 651.

I have called my ISP but they told me it was a problem with my PC. Did a search on the internet with the above mention error code and I came up with this link: http://www.modemsite.com/56k/duns650.asp statng that it is an error in the inf file. Another site requested I download regcure to clean / clear up my registry as it might have junk.

Any ideas?

Hi

How are you connecting your ADSL modem to your PC? is it USB or Ethernet?

Which Windows version you using?

Which ISP as some may list some steps to troubleshooting this on their website, also tell us what modem it is too?

But if connecting via USB, then I have seen random disconnections and that error code linked to the power save function on your USB port, so go into Device Manager and turn off in Power Management tab the Power Save function to each of the Root Hub's listed ( uncheck the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power )
