Windows XP Home SP2. I've done everything at this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314067/en-us and still I can't connect. I can ipconfig /renew OK. The ping is working. AntiVir will download and install the updates. But other than that, I cannot use the internet. If I go into network connections in the control panel, and I right click and choose Repair, it says that it couldn't clear the ARP cache. I've gone thru the steps to clear it via the command prompt (netsh interface ip delete arpcache) and still no dice. I've uninstalled and re-installed the ethernet drivers (Intel PRO100/VE). Any other ideas?

From the command prompt type in Netsh WinSock Reset

    See if that does it.

OK- I'll try that. It's wierd, but I can surf just fine using FireFox, and most (not all) antivirus and antispyware utils will download their updates w/o a hitch. It seems as if the main problem is with IE. Anyway, I'll try your command, Matacumbie and let you know how things went.
    Thanx.

    1. Make sure the firewall allows IE.
    2. Click on file in IE and make sure "work offline" is not checked/ticked. (I've done that a few times, forgotten I've done it and wondered why I couldn't connect. )
