internet connection problem

ive been having this problem for a couple of days now. i have a toshiba satellite P105-S1647 laptop. i did a recovery on it twice thinking it would solve the problem. i can connect to my network but i cant get access to the internet. i can connect to a unsecured network and get access to the internet no problems. i tried the ip config release and the reset but that doesnt solve it. my os is windows vista. if anyone knows how to fix this would be a great help!
