Internet connection problems.

Hope someone can help me with his. The Internet has been working fine on my Hp Pavilion a250n until today when I cannot connect.
I have broadband connection through Qwest and the router is working just fine for all our other computers but not the Pavilion Desktop, which has an ethernet connection.
When I go to the Network connections screen there is nothing listed.
The person from qwest told me I need to reinstall the Network Driver.
I went to HP website and downloaded it but it still does not work. Now I had a new motherboard put in the machine a few years back Foxconn. Will the drivers be on that CD ?
Any help appreciated.

A shot in the dark here but try these simply things.
Change out your cat cable, if its an onboard ethernet the drivers will be on the board cd but may need updated.
You can also turn off the onboard ethernet (giving thats what you are using) and stick in a card to see if that helps..

 

Looks like the Hp Pavilion a250n shipped with XP Home.

-Check the router settings, make sure the IP range is great enough to allow another PC. Most people stay with standard settings which allow upwards of 200 computers . . . but you never know.

-Check in BIOS and make sure the onboard network adapter is enabled.

-Check under device manager - what does it show for your network adapter? If it shows an adapter, right click it and chose "uninstall" from the menu. Reboot - XP will "find" the new hardware and install the drivers for it. Sometimes that corrects sticky connection problems when it appears the adapter is bad.

In answer to you questiion, yes, the drivers for the on board network adapter should be on the CD that came with the motherboard.
