Internet connection sharing broken, Win98SE

I have a three system network connected through a switch (I think that's the right name).

All three machines used to be able to use the same internet connection at the same time.

All three machines are running Win 98 SE.

None of the machines have firewall software.

My machine has the (33.6) Dial-up connection.

None of the machines have had anything new installed, or anything uninstalled since before the problem began.

The network is still working.

But now the 'net only works for me.

Neither client machine can browse using IE (the only browser installed). Neither client machine can ping either "yahoo.com" or "66.218.71.112"

I have no ideas where to start looking to try to fix this. I am exceedingly ignorant and need careful, precise instructions. And I will probably misunderstand some of them.

Please help me before my children mutiny and keel haul me.

Have you checked and tested your cabling and your switch is functioning?

I will read the link you posted, and follow the instructions to test the network, but all the network functions apart from internet sharing are working. Each machine can see each other the others - copying files and using the printer all work properly.
