internet connection

I have 3 laptops recieving a signal from a wireless router. To laptops are working fine, but my wifes will not connect. It shows the computer to computer icon but does not sho the globe showing connection to the web. I have ran the various cleaners and rebooted both the computers and dsl box as well as the router, Can anyone help. Thanks.

Vista has a "Network and Sharing Centre" that will allow you to control which connection is being used. Perhaps, the connection was not set up right in the first place and you may wish to try again. There is also a "diagnose problems" option in Vista's Network and Sharing Centre. That might help.

Unfortunately, there can be all kinds of reasons why you are experiencing difficulties. You just have to start somewhere, for example by checking to see if the connection even exists on the machine. Then you have to actively solve the problem, for example setting up a new one (yet again).

 

A good way to test connectivity is to plug a cable from the router to the PC. This will tell you if the problem is with the wireless components (both hardware and software), or if it's a problem with the Windows networking software. Windows7 also has the "Network & Sharing Center" and has lots of repair and diagnostic features. But it's hard to offer pointed advice without knowing which version of Windows is being used.
