    Good Evening all -
ok, here is my problem. This all started this past Sun evening/Mon morning. From one evening to the next morning my browser stopped working. I open my browser and it shows that it is finding the site and it even resolves, but the page is blank, no sound, no video - just blank. The title bar shows that it is the correct site and the url is as it should be. Email sends, but doesn't recieve. Symantec can tell there are updates, but can't pull them. I thought it was a port issue, but ruled that one out. Ping will resolve to fwd and reverse but will time out. Yahoo chat for some reason does work -- ??

This is what I have done in my attempts to resolve the issue.

    • ran 2 different spyware/adware removal programs (spybot and adaware) - nothing found
    • ran Hijackthis (results below) didn't see anything strange there
    • ran iefix utility (no joy)
    • installed firefox - doesn't work either
    • unistalled IE - nada
    • disabled all firewalls and tested - no dice

A concern I do have is that there is a strange app that runs every now and then, but I can't see what it is. It will flash on the taskbar for about 1 full sec, then go away. I have not seen it in the processes. But it has been that way for some time now , without any negative results that I can see. I figured it was either symantec or diskkeeper.

my system is a Dell XP sp2 w/ IE 6sp1 maxed out on memory w/ a cable connection and a linksys wireless router on it. I am on a wireless connection off the same router that is working fine. (The dell is wired.)

Appreciate any assistance you can provide. I think I am missing something really really oblivious. Either that or I have been hacked.

EDIT: HijackThis inline log removed as per forum guide to attach any logs.

There's nothing obivously wrong. Try running "ipconfig /flushdns".

Something to try, especially if your problem started after deleting a virus or spy program, download Winsock fix, http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4372.html
and give that a try, it sure worked for me on three occasions.
