Internet Connectivity

:-oWell I have no connection via hard line cat 5 cable being directed from a router, oh, wait, I do just not to my desktop. Connection is up and running on my laptop but will not perform via the desktop?? I have downloaded the latest driver for MOB and reset the winsock catalog but to no avail. Is there anyone that could help this poor lost sole find life in the far reaches?

 

Is your ethernet card selected to be used?(active)
What make and model of machine?

 

No make or model XFX MOB Windows XP Pro x64. The board has 2 ethernet controllers afixed to it.


Limited or no connectivity. Device manager/device is working properly.

 

Have you tried both?

 

Yes and the status is the same for both. I have even went as far as reloading the OS to try to find a quick fix.

 

Try changing cables from the router to the desktop. Have had bad ones before and got that message.

 

Also, try going straight from your modem box to the desktop to see if you can access. (Bypass the router)

My apologies for not following up sooner. I have been able to resolve the issue after many untrying ways. I researched and tried every fix possible to no end. This was terribly frustrating because all functions throughout the system had the controllers working fine, I say "controllers" because the MOB has two Ethernet controllers onboard. As a last resort I purchased a Ethernet adapter which patched the problem. Now my concern is what caused two independent controllers to quit working at the same time. I am definitely going to invest in some data line protection. Thanks for all the follow up post.
