Internet Enhancers?

Well finals are over and I'm home for winter break. I had to say goodbye to my nice t1 lan at Rutgers and hello to my 56k dialup at home that never connects faster then 36k (on a good day). The speed is just so unbearable so I went looking around on the mg homepage at the internet tools trying to find an accelerator or something and theres a good amount listed however i was wondering if anyone had any experiance with one or could recommend one?

 

To be honest with you I never did see a huge difference in speed. and I found out that you can actually do the same type of tweaking without having to pay for any software.

If you are logging on at 36k I dont think there is any software out there worth paying for that will increase your speed dramatically I used to have dial up and I might have seen just a slight increase not worth the money I had to pay after the 30 days trial

I have had much experience in this field, i suggest you stay away, it is usaully just spyware and i have never actually had the luck of getting one to increase my dial-up speed, but if you do find somthing that does work tell me, im curious...

 

Most of the so called progs that promise speed up your internet are garbage. Besides, you're at the mercy of the phone lines since they only allow so much and vary even in local areas. You're pretty much stuck with 36K until you go cable or otherwise...

Only thing I can think of is to tweak the com port to your modem and turn the flow control off. Sorry I can't offer more.

One other thing is if you have static on your line when you're talking that will also reduce your speed. Get your phone company to do a check. I also agree with the above. Buy beer instead or whatever your fancy is.
