my internet exploerer stops working after between 10 and 30mins. its been like this for around 2 months now..

i done at least 3 complete xp reinstalls and i still got the same problem.

i over clocked my xp2600 from 1900mhz to 2.2mhz with not enough cooling so my chip only runs at 1050mhz if i set it any higher my pc won't start

could this be the reason why i have problems with internet exploerer???

OC'ing can be fun and expensive-- Sounds like it might be a fault protection thing (when you reach a predetermined temp or voltage -shuts down) this pc may be trying to save itself??

    Thatmayhelp :)

Like Mr. 419 said above me....Oc'ing can cause headaches where you would least expect them!! Just because it boots up fine, and appears to be stable...doesn't mean it is 100% stable!! Unfortunately, when something is unstable due to overclocking...it makes it appear as though the problem is to be blamed on something else!!!!

To make a long story short...tune back you cpu to the recommended specs and try that for awhile...odds are that might help!!

its to late for that now.... my xp2600 factory settings is 1900mhz, it can only run at 1050mhz if i turn the fsb up any higher the pc won't boot up and i have to short the jumpers and reset the mobo
my chip is kinda messed up

tell me about it.. this was the first time ive ever overclocked and it cost me 1000mhz of cpu speed. i should of just left the cpu alone.

But us pc Geeks just cant help it we must Tweek, take apart, rebuild and upgrade even if there's nothing wrong with the pc. its in our nature :D lol

Well according to this page at the XFX website....

    http://www.xfxforce.com/mb/product_view.php?sku=NF24ALH

It says that the latest BIOS Update and chipset drivers were released in December of 2003!! Have you updated to these two?? Especially the chipset drivers!!

Otherwise...I was hoping to be able get a manual, but it says thatit is not available...so i guess i'll just ask you...

Have you looked to make sure there aren't any FSB jumpers on the mobo?? If so...make sure it is set at 133, since your processor has a 266 FSB!! Alot of motherboards have the adjustable settings in the bios and also the actual jumpers on the board!!

Didn't know if you were aware of that!!

Also...you might not be getting enough voltage to the cpu, for some unknown reason!!

    thanks for the reply

the full story is that i had a biostar mobo and i over clocked my processor on that mobo first. thats when the internet problem started. to cut a long story short i thought it was a mobo problem so i changed my mobo to the one im using now(xfx) and i still got the same problem. so i guess its somthing wrong with the processor because i overclocked it without the right cooling.

In that case...I would say that you arew right!! You probably damaged the cpu...unfortunately!! :(

Is there some way you can test it in a different computer that you know is fine all the way around?? Maybe a VERY trusting friend, that has a socket a mobo??

    Quite working right!!!! LOL

That's about as simple as it gets!! They don't necessarily do something or not do something!!

    Sorry :(

However...I just bought an XP 3000/400fsb from tigerdirect.com for $139.00 and it is awesome!!
