Internet Explorer 7 and 8 Functionality Missing - Need Help...

    I was missing some functionality in Internet Explorer all of a suggen. Some websites which have active buttons -- no longer show the buttons. I tried to use Windows Update, but I cannot get the application that checks your computer to run. It just says done in the lower left and shows a blank page. Went directly to Microsoft and tried to run update and got the same thing. If I go to IE Help, and click on About Internet Explorer, all the fields are blank; Version, Cipher Strength, Product ID. The OK button here or the System Info buttons do not work.

    Installed IE 8.0 and everything is the same.

    Something seems to be missing. Any suggestions as to what to check?

    Click Start, Run and type the following commands one by one and press Enter

    REGSVR32 MSHTMLED.DLL

    REGSVR32 JSCRIPT.DLL

    REGSVR32 /i MSHTML.DLL
