The next beta for IE7 has just been released for anyone who wants to test this new incarnation of the Microsoft browser out.

NOTE: Only for the following installed OS and SPs

Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 for Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 for Windows Server 2003 ia64 Edition (Windows Server 2003 for Itanium-based systems)

Usual rules of installing beta's apply in that these are generally for IT Pros and users who understand the pitfalls of installing and using beta's as sometimes not everything works as planned, so do not install on a critical production PC or your only PC in the house, unless you understand you may need to re-install your OS as a worst case senario :)

Me, not this one for XP as I have the Vista IE7+ 5456 version to play with which is just the same as this one, and following some general tips on using beta's I have my main XP PC free of large beta's like this..

    in your opinion
is there any posibilities of the "same bugs" in beta 2 that can cause some application will not work properly?

They have supposed to have fixed many bugs that Beta 2 had in it in this build, many rendering bugs have gone.. actually it was a large bug fixed release.

BUT to say you wont have problems, I couldnt honestly say NO, as what could work fine of rme may not for you, each PC HW and Soft install is different.. so if yo uhave test PC, by all means try it out, but Beta 3 is still not on the road to a final RTM version, so maybe worth waiting to try it again only when they release the RC versions.

No matter how many Betas they release, I can never get them to work on my pc.

Either way, I tried to follow Microsofts troubleshooting guidelines and I was forced to restore to an earlier time as it rendered me the message that "You May Be a Victim Of Software Counterfeiting" after editing some files. Either way I'll wait for the final release. Thanks Halo though for the info.

Are you using a legal version of XP then Blades or a hooky one, the beta's especially IE7 will not install ( unless someones been creative with the installer ) on an illegal version of XP, hence that WGA notification.

If your version is legal then you would be advised to get into contact with MS and clear it up as you will have some serious problems if they decide to add the rumoured "kill switch" to a later WGA update.

plus you still wont be able to install the full and final version.

I've been using IE7 Beta 3, and I am very happy with the improvements from Beta 2. I even like it better than Opera now, but FF is still #1 in my opinion. :)

I really think that MS is doing a good job upgrading IE.

I would like to add something. I know that a lot of people on this forum use CCleaner. Using the "Hotfix Uninstaller" option will remove the Uninstaller for Beta 3. Due to the changes in Beta 3 one cannot use another's Uninstaller folder and will be forced to format if problems occur rather than an uninstall.

With Beta 2 it was common for people to use an uploaded copy of the Uninstaller folder, but with Beta 3 it is warned not to so.

The author of CCleaner has claimed that in the next release of CCleaner, which will be sometime this week, that CCleaner will ignore the IE7 Uninstaller folder. But until then Beta 3 users should not use that option.

The new CCleaner is out. I tested it with the slim version and the "hotfix uninstaller" did in fact ignore IE7 Beta 3.

No ive been able to install Beta 2 a month ago or so but I reformatted my pc and I tried to install Beta 3 and it said it could not be installed. So when I tried to do the troubleshooting tips at Microsoft I think I did something wrong and as soon as I rebooted my pc it said "You May Be a Victim of Software Counterfeiting" and I simply restored my pc to an earlier time to fix that. Unless Best Buy sells bootleg Windows XP, then my copy is more than legit. So i might as well wait for the Final and see how that works out.

Have you posted in the WGA forums? It's very helpful. I don't want to get this thread off topic, but I suggest that you post there and see what they have to say. It could be beneficial. :)
