internet explorer 7.

Hi Guy's,
I am running H,P, Presario 310 Laptop. I have Vista premium loaded.
The problem I have is, Internet Explorer 7, loads a blank page by itself at any time that I am on th computer.
I have to load task manager to close the page.

I do not have this problem on the desktop we have which has Xp loaded.

Any help here appreciated.

Hello thunderbolt, aptly named with current weather, welcome to Major Geeks.


Internet Explorer (and Vista) receive an enormous number of updates, these days.
More especially if you have any extras loaded with IE such as google/yahoo toolbars. Windows defender and phishing filter are other favorites.

your first port of call is task manager but look to see if any updates are running. Is the laptop internet connected?
Let it run for at least half an hour with interent explorer open to see if an update process completes.
Then post again with the result.

wireless network.
ran explorer 7 for half hour no updates.
being on cnet also re this problem,a few folks in the U.S.
have the same thing.
what mircosoft do not understand is this blank white page
loads by its self,whenyou are working on some other prog
I use firefox mostly.

thanks for the info looked on the microsoft site its mainly
xp-sp2 info nothing on vista.

If you've not beenwashed away

I assume that IE7 did work one time? the download/upgrade often bombs out because Microsft include several upgrades at once with this one. It is the latter which actually fail but kill the whole download.

I assume you looked in task manager?

So open IE7 and disable all popup blockers. I had a case of three. One in Yahoo toolbar, one in Google Toolbar and one in IE7 itself. They all fell out, resulting in a blank page like yours.

This fix only worked for a week then the guys problem was back. This time it was only cured by removing the toolbars.

You might also hit Defender and anti phishing.

 

Open IE7 click Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset

You may lose some of your personalized settings after you press the Reset button. So please make a backup before you proceed.

no joy today after working ten minutes blank page up again.

I do have rocket dock on auto hide so only takes a few seconds to get it off.
will have to live with it till a cure is found. L.O.L.

Perhaps you should just uninstall IE7 and reinstall it?

From add remove progs in control panel.

When you come to reinstall get Autopatcher from MG it's more reliable than a big download from MS.
