Internet Explorer 7

Good Afternoon

I updated to IE7. What a mistake. I can't do simple things such as update CCleaner and spyware blaster. After a few minutes the system gives me a 504 error/timeout. Is this a setting somewhere ? Somebody please help.

What OS, guessing you ran Ccleaner, did you check your firewall? Don't think it's IE7 causing the problem but I could be wrong.

OS = XP Pro.
Firewall was turned off

If I do a search on Yahoo for ccleaner and then try to open the website the system won't let me open it. Maybe this will be additional information to help in solving the problem.

 

Just to see what happens, try using a different browser like Firefox. Then try using an Internet Explorer based browser (like PhaseOut) and see if you get the same results.

There's plenty of other browsers available here http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads5.html and you'll find that most are based on either the Mozilla (Firefox) engine, or on the Internet Explorer core....

 

So, you can't go to http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds and download a file? If you're saying IE 7 is the cause of that, I have serious doubts about what you say. I'm inclined to think you have other issues, perhaps some malware problem.

Do you have SP2 for Win XP installed? What firewall are you using? What's your usual regimen for spyware detection and removal? What anti-virus software are you using?

 

Please answer the questions in the posts above, if you have none of the above concerns and are up to date with your OS and have no signs of malware you can try below.

Try this, it has helped me a few times (thank you Augie)
Go to Start > Run and type CMD, hit enter
(in the black box that opens type)
ipconfig /flushdns (there is a space between)
hit enter

Also I get this kind of problem sometimes with ATT/Yahoo DSL, so if your ISP might help.
