I run Mozilla Firefox but my windows keeps wanting me to update Internet Explorer. Every time I do things start to go wrong on my computer. When i use Internet Explorer 8 I can never get it load a web page. It shuts the program down before even logging on. I was wondering if there are some programs that are not compatible with Explorer 8 that i might have on my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to windows update site, locate IE 8 in the downloads and click the + in front for more information. Then check/tick the box that says Do not offer this update to me.

Another idea, if you want to use IE8. When you install it, you are given a menu of choices at first use. If you just say no to all options, I have found that IE8 runs fine for all websites. I can't remember all of the choices right now, though I just did an installation yesterday, but I just automatically say no to everything.
Doing this, I have never had a problem with any installation.
Or, do what Plodr says, I just don't know if that creates any security concerns or not. And eventually, you'll need to upgrade.
All that said, if you search for comparative speeds of different, Google Chrome is looking pretty good.

You should also go through all the Addons that are automatically enabled and disable any that are not necessary.

If you are really having trouble with IE then why not try another browser like Firefox or Chrome or Safari?

Disabling add-ons is a great way to speed up your browsing in IE8, here is a short walkthrough to help you out:

In IE, go to ‘tools’ and ‘manage add-ons’.
Disabling any unnecessary add-ons may help your Internet run faster.
Try disabling add-ons with more than a .2 sec load time. (i.e. tool bars)

If you’re still not having any luck, I recommend you reinstall IE8 on your system.
