I wonder if you good folks can help me with this. When searching on yahoo for example with IE the search results come up as usual but when I click on the one I want IE is redirected to other sites, some which appear legitimate (but not the one I wanted) and others which seem less reputable. Some of the sites it is redirected to are as follows:

    casinocaesar.com/
    romemaster.com/shopping.cfm?nft=1&t=4&p=4
    oldhetaira.com/hijackthis.cfm?nft=1&t=4&p=4
    monstermarketplace.com/googlesearchsfd.asp?q=lincoln

I run adaware and spybot regularly and have firewall, pop up and anti virus protection. None of these have identified any problem. I also ran panda active scan which showed nothing. I ran cw cleaner also which picked up a cool variant and removed it however the problem continues.

Other information is that I have been searching quite a few websites on Kiev and Ukraine (based in ukraine) as I am going on holiday there next week and some of them do seem to have a lot of dodgy banner ads etc, but as I said there was no noticeable intrusion. I also clean all my history, cache etc regularly.

Adaware and spybot now run much slower than they used to and adaware noticeably sticks for minutes at the HKEY section and Shared DLLs. My PC seems slower also when there is no reason

My knowledge on these things is limited so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Best option is to go through the below guide and attach the requested logs and the malware experts here will be able to spot any potential issues and post some further removal instructions.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
