Internet Explorer listed twice in Task Mgr

Yeah it is sadly, bascially its the Tabs feature and Crash Protection (re-open last browsing session), that adds the 2nd one on first running (unless you have multiple home pages listed to open and there maybe more), Windows XP and IE8 does seem to use alot of ram up over what Win7 uses with IE8, but similar to Fx and its mem usage.

So in IE8 this is normal.

 

Actually its a positive as if your browser does encounter a site that causes it to crash, you can recover where you left off from, used this many a time as not all sites implement Flash, Sliverlight and Java et al very well and can crash your browser.

Many a time I know in the past I have been looking for info and zap the browser closes due to a bad 3rd party add-on etc, then yo would loose where you where upto, now you just recover, simple, TBH I think its a plus in IE8 as well as its protected mode and Accelerators.


*you do get just as many instances of firefox in Task Manager as well, dependent on tabs open etc, using just as much if not more ram per session.
