    hi guys

everytime i go on the net using internet explorer it tends to lock up every 10 mins or so. i wait there for 5 mins until it goes back to normal.

what could be causing this? is it sending information about my self to somewhere else? i checked for spyware and viruses but nothing came up. i have a firewall/adsl router with also a software firewall. could someone be hacking into my pc?

    please help

    cheers

    JOE!

Well, let's get a little more information. Can you post your Operating System, your System Specs (what size processor how much RAM, how big your hard drive is, etc) what kind of Internet connection you are using, and what programs you are running in the backgroun, if you can.
Also, what is the name of your Anti-virus, your firewall, and the programs you used to check for Spyware?

    With the above:

Also, are you downloading anything? Like torrents and what not? This can cause slowdowns on your internet connection.

Also, how frequent does this happen. Every 5 minutes?

What I don't understand is why nobody has mentioned the most obvious: WHY ARE YOU STILL USING IE?! GO FOR FIREFOX!

Apart from that have you been keeping your computer happy? Defragmenting, etc.?

Because problems with IE can be tied in or resulting from other issues so resolving the problem at hand is first priority before suggesting alternatives.

Fair enough! Can't argue with that.
