    Hi there,

First off, I'm brand new here.

Secondly, I did a bit of digging around to see if anyone had similar problems, but since I'm running Windows 98 (yes, I know, out of date), and IE6, I couldn't find a solution to my problem.

I am a member of a forum that I visit regularly. Within the last 24 hours, I have been unable to get past the main page into any of the topic threads. Everytime I click on a thread, IE shuts down with an error message.

I have updated Windows, and IE (but cant download IE7, since windows 98 wont support it)
I have deleted temporary files, and cookies
I have msconfig - ed and turned off all unneccessary programs
I have done a registrybot scan
    I have done ad-aware scan
I have performed a Hijack scan - but I just downloaded it today, so I'm not positive I've done it correctly. Although I have read the "read this first" file, it seemed a bit daunting, but I will go back through it if it is required. It is my hope that there is an easier explaination / fix.

Any help / advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Greetings and welcome to MajorGeeks!

What forum is it. Did you talk with the forum owners? Only reason I say this, is cause you can browse this forum, just fine. :)

*S* Thanks for the welcome theefool

Yes, obviously this forum is working for me. The forum in question is renaissancefestival.com - and others claim to have no porblems with it. One of the first things I did was contact the forum owner, and I am waiting on his response... I just figured I would seek answers wherever I can....

Btw, should have asked earlier. What is the error message?

    Error message is a standard

"Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience...."

There is no number associated, or I would have looked it up.

It asks if you want to send an error report, and I've done that - though I'm not sure it will do any good....

    No go, theefool

I have deslected the "script debugging", but the error message still appears. That is the only relevant info on that link, due to my archaic version of windows....

    any more suggestions???

Thanks for all your help thus far!

I can access the forum using an old version of Netscape (yes, I'm a packrat!) if I'm truley desparate - but it's very slow

I wouldn't have found dial-afix without the link - I never knew such a thing existed!! I'll let you know how it turns out!!

Well, I followed your directions, but to no avail. I am still getting the error message when I visit my renaissance forums...

How many possible fixes can there be??

This is not life and death - but I would like to get to the root of the problem...

So, I'm still open to suggestions....

    and.... THANK YOU

Is it worth my while to go through and follow the steps to properly attach my hijack file?
