Hi, i'm having a bit of a connection problem, its starting to get on my nerves so i was wonderinig if anyone could help me. I don't know if this is the right place to post this kind of problem or not, but i thought i'd try anyways!

When using internet explorer, i sometimes get the error page "Internet explorer cannot display web page". I keep needing to refresh the webpage to get it to load properly. Sometimes it will only load up after numerous attempts of refreshing the page, and even then the page doesn't always load up properly - pictures won't load, or the font on the web page isn't how it is supposed to be.

This happens no matter what website i'm on, and sometimes it will happen 80% of the time, then other times it might not happen at all.

I have a wireless internet connection with a Belkin router, sharing the connection with 3 other computers, none of which experience this problem.

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks.

    HI

Which Windows version ( include Service Pack ) and IE are you using?

Start off with clearing all temp locations, use CCLeaner for this as it works well, then clear your dnscache.

To clear DNScache, open a CMD ( Command prompt window ) click start run and type cmd in XP and in Vista click Start > type cmd in the Start Search box and then right click run as administrator the cmd link as you need to run from elevated position in Vista, then in the command prompt window type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter.

If that doesnt help then it could well be a old or errant activex add-on so run IE in no addons mode, to do this click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Do the sites open ok? if they do then you have an old or faulting add-on and to narrow it down you will need to now start IE normally then goto Tools > Manage Addons > Enable Disable addons then disable all of them, then enable one at a time to test for faulting one.

Common causes are though old versions of Java Runtime, Flash and Shockwave Players, so uninstall all versions of Java in add/remove and install latest one then update Adobe Flash and Shockwave

    Hi Halo, thanks for replying!

I have widows Xp with service pack 2, and use internet explorer 7.

I followed your advice, and after clearing temp locations, clearing DNScache and running IE without add-ons, the problem is still there.

If it helps, sometimes when i type in a valid web address, instead of the website loading it comes up with a google search instead. Also, i think the problem is with other programs also - i have a filesharing program which rarely connects and will not download.

    Thanks
