Internet Explorer Problems

I hope some "Major Geek" can help me with this problem as I think that's what it's going to take. Microsoft tech help (at $35)couldn't, Dell couldn't , and AOL couldn't.

The problem..IE will not empty temporary internet folder (doesn't respond), Scan disk will not work properly (because system shows internet files busy) and when I open AOL I get this error message: EXPLORER caused an exception c06d007eH in module SENS.DLL at 017f:6010857f. which causes my active desktop to shutdown along with some running applications.

What steps I have taken: Reformated hard drive...not once but 5 times! Dell seems to think there is a "magic" number of reformating times that will help. IE 5 loads (OEM installed) and works fine, update to IE 6 works fine UNTIL I go to bed (Maybe that's the answer...never go to bed) Next morning IE starts acting up again.

Yesterday while reformatting (I feel like a computer Geek myself having done it so many times! I'm getting faster at it though:) I tested each program as it was installed to make sure IE and AOL worked together. All went well until this morning...

I have run Norton and Spybot. Nothing!

Any "Geek" out there have any suggestions before I throw the computer in the trash?

    Thanks!

What OS are you using? XP?

If so, try this. Go to the Control Panel, Network connections. Right click the connection you are using, (possibly Local Area Connection) And choose properties. You should have a list of protocols there. Highlight TCP/ IP and then click on Uninstall. After it uninstalls it, click on Install, then Protocols. Choose TCP/IP from the list and reinstall it.
Something might be corrupting your wsock32.dll file.

Sorry if it was Spam, Operating system info

I probably did not read the rules completely re: signature line... sorry certaintly did not mean to! Too early in the morning for me too.

Back to the problem at hand...

I am using Windows 98SE and using a cable modem hook-up. I have not considered the possibility that it might have something to do with this...but then Dell or Microsoft didn't suggest it either.

Thank you for your quick responses

Thats because 9X support for MS (and Dell) is populated by incompotent fools. You would have had this problem resolved quickly 6 months ago by MS.

Then they decided that Americans were not suitable for the job and took it to India...

You are much better off sticking to this board to get help than calling M$...

Furthermore, call them back and demand a refund for your 35 bucks, they didnt fix it and policy generally means you can get your money back.
