I have both Mozilla Firefox and IE on my computer. Lately I have been having a problem with IE. I had to uninstall SP2 on XP to install IE and then reinstall SP2. Today I can get to some web sites in IE but not others. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it to work right??

    Thanks!

I think I might have connection problems. At home I use dial-up and at the office a T1 line. At home I have no problem accessing IE with dial up - at work I can get to some sites and not others. Can anyone enlighten me?

    Hi Ron

Have you done the usual Virus/Spyware checks, deleted cookies/temp internet files?
also as your works PC is most likely on a LAN connection have you repaired the connection? ( goto Network Connections > right click the LAN icon and choose Repair )

sometimes as you can get to some sites and not others the DNS cache could have become messed up, to clear this open the command prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter, restart and try again.

Also what types of sites are they, are they secure sites, MSN, Hotmail, Banking etc

In addition, those sites may be blocked by your company.

Very true.... I have a nightmare with Websense in work, which blocks all sorts of sites, even ones I need for research, even down to some of our own medical services sites!

Sometimes using just the IP works and other times using a different browser. Or you can use a live cd (maybe that will work). Though, if the software is good, it probably doesn't matter at all what you try to do to get around it.

Its anoying but I can live with it as my works machine has software on it that only a few machines have in the world have installed and it took damm ages to get it to actually run for our research work I wouldnt like to download or be infected with anything to have to go through the process of 3 months of banging heads against pc's to get it 70% running correctly.

    But cheers :)

Ron .... are your work and home ISPs the same or different? one could be having network problems, worth a quick call or email to find out if they are.
