Internet Explorer & Roadrunner (the cartoon)

Windows XP Home SP2; was IE7 but I removed it back to IE6. This PC had some malware, but I think I have it under control and removed everything. I've been surfing for about 30 minutes without being hijacked or re-routed and all subsequent scans have come up clean... BUT... the roadrunner of Looney Toons fame is in the top right corner of IE. :confused Screen shot attached below.... This is a first for me.... anyone seen anything like this before? Should I be worried? Is this a sign that something still lingers?

If I'm not mistaken, it's a simple .GIF file swap. It's just a matter of knowing which GIF. I just noticed on this roadrunner PC, when a web page is loading it flashes back to the Windows flag for a second, then goes back to the roadrunner....

The more I think about it, I remember there being a little app that would let you use a custom graphic up there, I think it's a spinning globe or the Windows flag by default, but if the GIF is the right size.....

 

is this person a Time Warner customer? If they ran an install disc from TW, it will usually do that. You can change it back but I really can't remember how at the moment

 

I believe that Time Warner and AOL are the same company, and these folks were former AOL users, so that might explain it....
