Internet Explorer Shutdown

I have been having problems with Internet Explorer shutting down when I visit certain websites. Though I don't remember most of the websites, I do know that I almost always have problems when I visit www.shockwave.com. I also occasionally have problems with google.com images search. Every once in a while I will get an error message that says Internet Explorer will shut down. Anybody know what's up with this?

I've already done all of that. There is no spyware or virus on my computer. I've been having this problem for several months.

 

Sounds like IE is having trouble with some kind of control from certain sites, if you changed anything in Internet Options such as not allowing things in privacy settings, it could have that effect. Have you tried setting defaults? Firewalls can also do things like that, but usually don't shut IE down or give errors. Have you tried an alternate browser? Just to access your sites until you get IE fixed I am not a guru, so this might be over my head, but someone more knowledgeable will jump in soon, be patient, these guys are good, but busy!

 

Did you try Disable the third party extensions from IE Properties???
Right Click IE >> Properties >> Advanced >> Uncheck "Enable Third-Party Browser Extentions (Requires Restart)" option.

 

Alright, I'll try that. I just unchecked it and now I'm going to restart.

 

No success. I went to shockwave.com and just like always, Internet Explorer shut down without warning.

 

How about trying to download the flash player for your browser? Also try deleting browser helper objects in registry
HKLM >> Software >> Microsoft >> Windows >>CurrentVersion >> Explorer >> Browser Helper Objects

 

Try this utility by Symantec:

I already have flash installed and there are no browser helper objects in my registry.

I tried the link http://thankyouspammers.com/FixSflog.exe, but the page wouldn't come up. I got an "HTTP 404 Not Found" message.

 

The link doesn't work for me either.

I've never used that utility and it seems to be for removal of the Serflog worm.

As I've said, I have no idea if it will work.

If not, try a repair of Internet Explorer. Also what operating system are you using?

TRY THIS --- > THIS WILL WORK
GO INTO and type START--> RUN ---> %systemroot%/inf AND CLICK ON OK
LOOK FOR IE AND RIGHT CLICK ON IT -- AND LEFT CLICK ON INSTALL ---- IF IT ASKS FOR OS CD PUT IT AND TYPE THE PATH AS d:\I386 and click on ok

THIS WOULD REINSTALL THE IE AND THEN RESTART THE COMPUTER ONCE AFTER THIS WHICH WOULD FIX THE ISSUE.

 

I reinstalled IE, but that didn't solve the problem. I made an adjustment to my display driver settings and that seems to have cleared things up for now, but I have to figure out what features I can turn on and what I can't in order to prevent future problems. I'm using "ATI - Hydravision" on Windows XP.
