Internet Explorer stops then restarts

Working with an HP computer running Vista. Randomly we get a message Internet Explorer has a problem. A window comes up saying Windows will search for a solution and let me know. It searches forever and doesn't let me know anything. Other times the message will come up saying it has a problem and needs to close. It closes then restarts.

I looked for a place to repair IE7 but couldn't find it in the list of Windows components. I disabled all the add ons with no effect. Not sure where to go from here. Would appreciate guidance, Thanks.

 

There is a possibility you could still be infected with malware. As per your thread in the malware forum, you never posted the logs requested for one of our experts to look over for you.

I'm not trying to scare you or anything but malware is becoming very advanced and there are no quick fixes for removing (a majority) of it. I can relate to being impatient but when it comes to malware and the effects it can have on your pc/life from stealing passwords and files to, in some cases, stealing your very personal data - caution is your best option.

I do think its best for you finish out that thread getting the all clean, it may just fix your problem.

 

I'm not sure where to go here. The other computer was returned to the user and she is not interested in letting me play with it further since it's working better than before.

I will be happy to run scans and provide logs if help is available on this issue.

I appologize if I offended someone or the system in my previous post but the other things I did seemed to fix the problem. I appreciate the diligent attitude here. What can I do now?

 

This problem was resolved by loading Firefox on his computer and he is happy with that. So this thread is finished.
