Internet Explorer VERY slow

Hi Everyone..
I have Windows XP running on an IBM 600E laptop and all of a sudden (for about a day or two) IE is running very slow. This text box that I'm typing in right now is very slow. It takes a second or two for the text to appear in the box after I'm typing.. Like it has to catch up..

Is this a common problem? A friend of mine had this happen and he started using Mozilla and that worked fine..

Is this some kind of parasitic virus I picked up somewhere?

maybe time for some clean up , defrag, scandisk, virus scan, registry cleanup?

have you tried system restore

have you resently installed any new stuff?

Opened any strange emails

 

Slow

I've got Moz1.6 running now & I thought it was slower than any other I've tried, today! It's doing the same procedure as you described with IE. Takes a few seconds for any thread, window, etc to open. Was thinking of reopening MyIE2, to check. Will later, maybe, George.

I downloaded adware and spybot.. Both found some stuff which I cleaned up.. Still no help with IE..

I just downloaded the scan utility from pestcontol and it found a bunch of stuff in addition to spybot and adware but I have to pay for the software to get the delete feature.

It found CWS.LoadBat which can be read about here.

I searched my registry for this entry to manually delete it bout it wasn't found??

For sure C:\WINDOWS\System32\Hummbird\inetd32.exe
is a nasty. Read about it here evidently CW Shredder takes care of this baby. You can find it here on MG

 

Inetd.32 is part of my hummingbird program I used (Exceed) for Unix xterm /graphics.. I never had a problem with it before..

That post mentioned a CWSShredder.zip utility but the link was no good.. This looks like it may find my problem.. Anybody know where I can get it or if I should get it..

I just tried it and it said that coolwwwsearch wasn't found on my computer..

Nope, sorry Ist. I'm already out of my depth. Keep watching this thread though. There's a lot of really savvy folks here and they usually jump right in with expert advice. I'd give it at least a day to allow them all to notice and respond.

PLZ HELP i have a simular problem i have run s&D, ad-awae, norton anti-virus, mcafee, avg, cws and hijackthis...im all out of ideas....i receently installed a lot of wincustomize programs...and changed the interface....and uninstalled them all...this problem started right after i rebottted my computer after tit ran for around 120 hours...i ussually leave it on for more...my whole is very slow....regular start up but programs take forever to open....i recently extracted "windows pro" onto my drive...also i have noticed that around 2gb a day has been disapearing from my drive it was 59gb free a few days ago and now its 52 gb i dint install anygthin besides small utilities.

 

How id you uninstall these programs.Through the Add/Remove?or using the uninstaller of the program itself.
