Internet Explorer

Is there a way to completely uninstall internet explorer? I just made the switch to Firefox and I think I'm gonna stick with it. I know that some sites are only compatible with IE but I don't think I'll ever need to use it again. Thanks.

I'm far from being a pro, but from what I understand, you can't/shouldn't uninstall Internet Explorer as it's a Windows program that has files deep in your computer. You risk conflicts if you try to remove IE.

Just leave it be, at least you know it's there in case you do come across a website that needs IE to function.

No you can't uninstall IE 6 from Win XP. Anyway you will need IE in order to use Windows Update and some other sites, such as some on-line banking sites.

 

Ok, is there a way to completely make Firefox the default browser? I hate clicking on links in software and get redirected to IE. I've set it as my default browser, I went to "add/remove" and "access" and set it to be as such but it's not completely my default.

 

When you installed the Firefox it should have asked you if you wanted to make it the default browser. Try looking in the toolbar, I think there is a option that says "Make Firefox your default browser" or at least there will be a link that will get you to that spot.

If IE was pre-installed on your computer with XP then it can't be uninstalled. I just ran into that problem not long ago my self. I found other problems that fixed the IE problem.
