Hi, I've been having the following problems with internet explorer lately.

    1) It is freezing on me for about 5 to 10 seconds every few minutes.

    2) It is also repeatedly showing me the following message "Security Warning: do you want to view only the webpage that was delivered securily? .. the content was not delivered using a secure HTTPS connection. " I am constantly having to click Yes or No before I can continue to another page or before I can login to a page.

    3) Autocomplete is no longer working in my yahoo mail and probably not with any other programme either.

    4) My internet is generally working very slow. (we have a 2nd laptop in the house which is fine so I know it's not the connection at fault).

I am using Windows XP. I have AVG anti-virus free edition, Spybot and Firewall. My internet security is set to Medium.

I have just installed and used CCleaner and I've also used the Registry in that programme. I'm still having the same problem.

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you. I hope someone out there knows what's wrong :cry

What Service Pack on your XP?
AVG has been slightly problematic lately.
Spybot is one I would replace with SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes.
    What firewall?

Hi hrlow2, thanks for your reply. Answers below beside your questions.

What Service Pack on your XP? - Service Pack 3

AVG is slightly problematic lately. Do you recommend I change? I had thought it was a virus but I was running scans regularly with nothing showing

Spybot is one I would replace with SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes. Noted, thank you. I'll change.

    What firewall? Windows Firewall

I would suggest that you run both SAS and MBAM to try to rule out any malware on your system.

I don't understand your second issue. Are you going to secure sites when you get that message?

Hi TimW, thanks for your reply. I'm downloading those as I write this.

To answer your question: No. It happens on every site I visit, e.g. logging in to ebay or any of my internet emails . It's a strange one!

To extend my last post, it's not only when logging in to a website that i get the Security Message. When i'm in a site, for eg a programme I use called DEAP, I get the message every time I go from one page to another.

Hi, I'm still having the same problem with the internet freezing for a few seconds every couple of minutes. It happens when I'm typing mostly. I've managed to sort out the other problem of the Security Message (I reset my internet options to default and this also rectified the autocomplete problem I was having) and I've downloaded Superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I've also changed to Avira anti-virus for now.
So if anyone out there can help with the internet freezing problem I'd be very grateful. The only times I notice it is when I'm in yahoo mail and gmail. It didn't happen when I was typing this message, if that info helps.
    Thanks very much
