internet help

Every time I hook to the internet and I try to find any web page it says cant find web site please try another or check your inernet settings or server settings. I tried it on explorer and mozilla firefox and both do the same. I am running the firewall that comes with xp, and I have dial up at this time. I called tech support but they couldnt fix it, all they did was have me ping google and reset in cmd.

I am getting on the web like right now its working but about every third page I have to completely exit out of all pages open and completely restart explorer, but I can stay connected while doing this just have to restart explorer I dont know what settings you would need or where I would find the settings.
